Filmanalys: En introduktion
Lars Gustaf Andersson, Erik Hedling
This book presents the basic concepts of modern film analysis in the form of four 'model analyses'. These are based on different types of interpretative perspectives, and deal with different genres and historical periods.
In the first chapter, narrative theory, thematic analysis and sociological close reading are applied to the American film Independence Day (1996). The second chapter focuses on the reception of a Swedish silent film, Ingeborg Holm (1913), a film that aroused great debate about Swedish social care. The third chapter highlights the auteur problem - the image of the film director as an artist - by approaching Pier Paolo Pasolini's Decamerone (1970), based on Boccaccio's classic stories. The analysis here highlights both the European art film of the period and the problem of adaptation, the transfer of a story from one medium to another. The fourth chapter analyzes cultural patterns in the film The Lawnmower Man (1992), a film that deals with the technology of the new age.
The book is intended for undergraduate students of film studies and related subjects.
